Christmas 09

James and his cousin Tristan, who are less than a week apart in age, got to spend some quality time hangin' out this weekend. Tristan and her family stayed with us and arrived Christmas Night.

James and Tristan both had a great first Christmas ...and now to the other things that have been happening!

James experienced his first blizzard this winter on December 19. In the above picture you can see he is enjoying the snow!

We began opening presents at our house on Christmas morning around 6:30am. James enjoyed eating the paper as do most 8 month olds! He received a set of plastic balls that enthralled him from Santa and tired him out so he took a nice morning nap. He also got his fourth baseball glove.

We then went to Grandpa Meagher's and saw Uncle John, Aunt Bean, Loch, Sean,Gpa and Aunt Feath.

Then we went to Aunt Inez's and saw Grampa and Grandma Beyrer, Uncle Tom, Aunt Inez, Great Aunt Ann, Cousin Jen, and cousins Brendan, Sean, and Aidan.

Then later that night we went home and welcomed the Virginia Meaghers to our house and the next day Christmas happened again! It was a long weekend that inlcuded a trip to the Lynch's for another Meagher family gathering and Aunt Cass's first attempt at playing pictionary.( it was a valient attempt). We are hoping to get James back on his schedule and that he will return to sleeping through the night which he hasn't done all week.
Happy New Year to all!

The First Thanksgiving

I know that the actual first thanksgiving didn't happen this year, but it was Jamie's first. I cannot figure out how to move these pics in the order that I want them so in no particular order: James nuzzling Chef Nelson after dinner at John and Beth's house. James and Grandpa hanging out pre-dinner

James attempting to lift the turket leg- he couldn't quite get it to his mouth to even lick it...!

Daddy and James- Joe tried to match the baby- James is sporting his first sports coat!

And Mommy and James!

Happy Belated Birthday Aunt Bean!

Remember when you first met James? Now he can make you a birthday card all by himself...kinda...

We forgot to send a card with our present down to North Carolina ( so a birthday elf told us) so now, thanks to technology we are able to share the bday card through our blog! As you can see from the above pictures he was more intent on eating the crayons than anything else...But we do all wish you a happy birthday Aunt Bean!

Baby's first teeth, first halloween, and first Peconic trip( although not necessarily in that order)

Grandpa was able to hang with 3/5 of his grandkids last weekend in Peconic( Eastern Long Island).

James was having a little diffculty in sharing his Grandpa.
James and Carter get to know one another.

Pile-on Grandpa!

Just chewing....

Still Chewing...

James and I were Penguins for his First Halloween-based on the book by Sandra Boynton,I Want to be your Personal Penguin. We were pretty cute!

In other news...By the seventh month anniversary of his birth, Jamie had two little teeth! They are on the bottom in the front.
Aunt Feath told me to get a pic of them to post but we couldn't quite get him to cooperate.
And in still other news... this post is horrible, but I guess that's what I can produce at 4am...everyone is sleeping but me...

crawling and other momentous occasions

James on Columbus Day weekend

James with Grandpa-maybe a month old?

James with Miss Kate and Collen at less than a month...

James is a crawler! Forward and backwards. And it seems like overnight he is able to sit fully up by himself and in a cute little crosslegged pose too! I am trying to poat a video but something happened. I may be asking for a new flip camera for bday/christmas!
He weighed 19 lbs at his 6 month check-up but apparently hasn't grown any longer-which I don't think I agree with- I think he scrunched up too quick when the girl was trying to measure him.
He's eating yogurt now and loving it. He switched from 4 bottles to three but is drinking more at each bottle so it's still the same amount of formula...and I think we have to switch to the next diaper size . We moved his mattress down and I am trying to keep up with his clothes. There has been so much growth in these last two months- it's hard to keep up! His gums have thickened and will soon be producing teeth according to the doctor. Even with all that he is still mostly a happy fellow. Last night he woke up screaming around midnight with a wet diaper-once I figured out that was the issue and had to change him and his pj's he was starting to wake up and smiled at me- then at Joe-we were able to rock him back to sleep pretty quickly but that smile made everything ok...Gosh I love that baby.

The Great Pumpkin

We went Pumpkin Picking on Eastern Long Island Columbus Day weekend. A trip I hope to never repeat as the traffic was ridiculous! But it was fun going with Kate and Heather and meeting the Wulffs and others at the field. We even made it to a winery.
James is almost crawling forward. He does a little bit then lays flat. It's pretty cute to watch. What is amazing to me is that he is sitting up and gets better at it each day. And no one taught him...he just can do it. He's maintaining a pleasant demeanor although I wish he slept more at night. That's because I like to get 9 hours and he sleeps between 8-9 which means I average 6 an evening. He makes noises during the night and Joe and I take turns telling each other that he is ok and we don't have to go get him. Which we usually don't- but then I watch him on the monitor for a while and think about how big he is and how fast this time is going and how pretty soon he'll be walking, then going to school then getting married...and then I think- I really need a full night's sleep to keep things in perspective!
Heather took the shot below which is a favorite of mine at the Norman J Levy Park Preserve where we took a walk the day after pumpkin picking.

The following weekend we went to Billy Cook's wedding and one day I will post the pics I took! It was great fun and in the beautiful location of New Hope, New Jersey ( pennslyvania?) which I highly recommend for people in the tristate area looking for a local getaway. Real pretty- Deleware river, trees, beautiful brick buildings, old historic inns- good stuff.
Opps- it's past my bedtime- baby has been asleep for almost an hour which means I can't get more than 7 hours if I fall asleep right now...

And his new stats...

oops- forgot to post that he is eating cereal with fruit, carrots, learning to use a sippy cup, weighs 16 lbs, 1 oz, is 26( and a half?) inches long and sleeping about 8 hours...which I better start on otherwise I miss my opportunity!

Cruisin'....on a Tuesday afternoon

James is mobile!!! He's about 5 1/2 months and is army crawling backwards! He seems to like it but gets frustrated when he wants to play with a toy that is in front of him. It's amazing to see how he tries to problem solve- he was using the blanket he was on as a means to bring things to himself...maybe on purpose-maybe not-but it was cool to watch!

Attached is a video of him moving along!

In other news- James got to hang out with Uncle Rich, Aunt Cass and cousins Carter and Tristan. Below is one of many pics Aunt Feath took as we tried to capture one of only a couple of times this weekend the two babies were awake and cheerful at the same time. They were born about a week apart and will be great friends one day!

We had a great visit . I certainly wish they lived closer than Virginny! I am having trouble organizing my thoughts- working outside of the home and being a Mom is hard work! So even though my sister thinks it is sophmoric I am still going to sign-off by saying that I will write more another time...maybe.

Meet the Mets!

James Beyrer made his first appearance at the new CitiField Park on Saturday. This pic is him getting ready to go:

He brought his Mom,Dad and Grandpa Meagher. We had Uncle John Beyrer's seats which entitled us to go into the Excelsior Lounge-It was very cool. We saw Eddie Ross there who even gave us some free snacks!

We finally made it out to the seats...

Yes Folks...that's Steve Ibach! He was there too! It was a great day filled with beer drinking, pretzel eating fun! And the best part was that James slept for 10 hours that night. In a row. So apparently he needs to watch the Mets play( they weren't losing when we left although they did lose in extra innings)in order to sleep through the night. Just like his Daddy.

And since we are here...Jamie has new stats since he is 4 months old...He wighs 14 lbs 8oz and is 25 and one -half inches long. He's pretty average for his height and weight. Tommorow we start cereal!woohoo! I can't wait!

New Hampshire meets James

James had his first trip to New Hampshire last week. He was a champ for the 6 hour car ride mostly sleeping the whole time. I got to sleep in the backseat with him and nap also since we decided I would be on baby duty the night before so Daddy could sleep and drive us safely to New Hampshire. We brought Gramphog with us and jokingly fought about who got to feed the baby at the rest stop.

Our first stop was a visit with our Aunt Edith and her daughter Nan and son-in-law Harold. Then cousins Kathy and Vincent came over and joined us for dinner at the Corner House pub. Wednesday we waited for Heather to arrive and then went to visit Aunt Jean before dinner . Grandpa was pretty creative with finding ways to entertain James. Here he is shown trying to teach James to write lists:Thursday we went to Squam Lake and had dinner at the Woodshed who used to serve delicious ribs but do not any longer. However they do serve a drink called Skip and Go Naked which fearless Feather ordered. Some may say Joe goaded her and some may say she was merely doing it for the pin you get with the drink to replace one our Mom used to have. Either way you end up with one soggy Feather.

Friday was a rainy day for the first day of our family reunion. So minigolf and go-carts were cancelled..but Mike and Donna's was on. There was ladderball and wiffleball and those who didn't have a three-month old baby stayed late in the night for fooseball and pool. But while there James met more cousins...

Saturday was beautiful and sunny and hot! We spent the day playing bocce, ping pong, ladderball, swimming, eating, drinking, and catching up with family. It was pretty spectacular. I don't think I took any pictures but Heather did...

Sunday was Heather's birthday so we began the day with dunkin'donuts( maybe not a big deal down here on Long Island but where we are in NH that entails a 30 minute drive to the nearest dunkin donuts...)thanks to Joe and James and then we opened Heather's presents! My personal favorite was of course the photo album made from recycled Elephant Poop found in the Old Country Store.

Heather went home that day and we went to Kathy and Vincent's house where more whiffleball was played and then we ate dinner at the Pizza Barn. Monday we went up to North Conway to get some stuff for the house and then ate dinner at the pub after I packed the car a bit. Tuesday we came home and James was again a real trooper. We were tired and glad to be home. And I am glad I figured out how to move the pictures in this post.
